Pray For

  • development of healthy leaders, multiplication of committed disciples
  • churches that actively participate in the transformation of individuals, families and societies
  • discernment and wisdom for Pastora Jenny as she pastors a church, leads the district and manages several legal issues
  • lifelong, God-honoring transformation for each family associated with the schools
  • blessings for new church plants and the multiplication of church planters

PRESENT MINISTRIES

There are two ICCM-sponsored schools in Nicaragua. Pastora Jenny Orozco was the principal of one until, based upon her proven leadership and administrative skills, she was asked to become the mission district leader this past year. The FM Church in Nicaragua is passionate about transforming the society for Christ. In addition to the established churches and schools, they are actively involved in Community Church Planting, provide adult education, offer cafeterias for children, and are beginning a bakery to provide gainful employment in this economically challenged district. There are also several church-affiliation projects in Nicaragua.

ORIGINS

Nicaragua: The Free Methodist Church in Nicaragua was planted through the efforts of the Costa Rican FMC in 1995. Nicaraguan leaders with a heart for ministry were identified and recruited by Costa Rican Superintendent Jorge Gomez. After a long battle with declining health, the founder of the Free Methodist Church in Nicaragua, Luis Ampie, passed away in 2010.

El Salvador: Jose Eduardo Rauda, a FM pastor in Texas had to return to his home country of El Salvador with his family in the early 1990’s due to changes in immigration policies. In spite of the ongoing civil war, Pastor Rauda began evangelizing and planted a congregation. In 1995 Free Methodist World Missions became aware of his work and officially incorporated the church into the Free Methodist family when he returned to the U.S.
