In the early 1980s the Rev. Dr. F. Tial Kung longed for spiritual renewal in a country restricted from the outside world, in a church that abandoned a commitment to holiness. Through a series of connections with FM leaders and missionaries, the work in Myanmar officially joined the global Free Methodist family in 1994. Today the church has a renewed focus on church planting. Other ministries include children and youth homes, a high school boarding school, and the Light and Life Bible College in Yangon. They also work among the Chinese and the Chin tribal people. ICCM has two homes for children in the Chin state.
