Free Methodist World Missions is pleased to announce the approval of six extended-term career missionaries to Asia. All six have served as VISA (Volunteers in Service Abroad) missionaries.
Gene and Minori Hall are currently serving as VISA missionaries in Tokyo, Japan, where they will continue as extended-term career missionaries beginning January 1, 2021. Gene will continue to learn about Asian and Japanese cultures and work on language acquisition. Under the direction of the Area Director and the Associate Area Director, Gene will develop relationships with key leaders and participate in leadership development throughout Southeast Asia. Minori will assist the Asia Area Director with communication and translation to the Bishop of the Japan General Conference, continue ESL ministry at a Christian School in Tokyo, and work with the Area Director to determine new avenues of ministry according to her gifts.
Keith and Jenna Battleson are currently serving as VISA missionaries in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where they will continue as extended-term career missionaries beginning January 1, 2021. They will continue to learn about Southeast Asian cultures and, under the Area Director’s direction, develop relationships with key leaders. Keith will develop a ministry to tell the Father’s Kingdom story in Southeast Asia, helping to mobilize the FMC-USA. Jenna will continue to learn the Thai language and culture, develop ESL as an outreach and support to Thai leaders, and serve as a member of the Asia Leadership Team with a special focus on Partnership/Mobilization and Missionary Care.
Jason and Wendi Doblin previously served in Asia as English teachers. Their initial term will be in Thailand, where they will learn about Southeast Asian cultures. Under the direction of the Asia Area Director, Jason will be developing key relationships with leaders throughout Asia and teaching English both on location and via the internet. Wendi will focus on Thailand, developing relationships with Thai leaders, and working on Thai language acquisition. Jason and Wendi are looking forward to deployment as early as June 1, 2021. They currently reside in Columbus, GA, where they are part of Christ Community Church.
