Julie works on nursing quality improvement at Kibogora Hospital and is currently assigned to decrease the infant mortality rate in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) through nursing education. From 2012 to 2017 they have seen the infant mortality rate drop from 9.6% of admission to 6.2%. Touching the lives of babies through medical care gives Julie, the nurses, and the hospital chaplains a chance to minister to the families spiritually as well.
