PRESENT MINISTRIES
Free Methodist ministry in Guatemala is based in Guastatoya. The church here, Maranatha Ministry, was planted 14 years ago by Pastor Victor Marroquin and his wife, Patricia. Two people, including their oldest daughter, attended the first service in the couple’s living room. Soon, they built a shed on borrowed land, and when the church grew to about 50 people, they purchased property and constructed a church building. They currently have two daughter churches, six active houses of peace, one street church, a youth network, and a couple’s ministry. The church is also actively serving children, especially those in need. In 2025, over 80 children who live on the streets of their town receive weekly discipleship training through the Raíces (Roots) materials.
Project Smiles is a ministry formed to bring holistic transformation to individuals, families and the community. This ministry includes weekly food delivery, providing 220 children with rations of eggs, tamales and bread. Another 180 children are participating in their Operation Chick project, which provides each child with five chicks. Children are taught to care for the chicks. Once grown, the chickens provide food for the families or are a source of income through the sale of meat, eggs or both.
Maranatha Ministries were officially incorporated into the Free Methodist Church in 2024, and the Guatemala Mission District was reestablished in 2025.
