PRESENT MINISTRIES
Today there is a growing fellowship of new churches with ongoing ministerial training and organizational development. The present superintendent, Rev. Quarshie, is leading the work to greater expansion into all regions of Ghana.
ORIGINS
Charles Tetteh, a Ghanaian, came to the United States to further his education. He attended Olathe, Kansas, Free Methodist Church. While there, his call to serve God through preaching was renewed, and he desired to bring the Free Methodist witness to his homeland. Charles returned to Ghana in June 1998 and planted Trinity FMC in Accra. The Barrie, ON, Free Methodist Church connected with the ministry in Accra in 2005. In 2009 the Ghana Mission District came under the oversight of the Free Methodist Church in Canada.
Meanwhile, another pastor, Ahmed Kenneth Quarshie, planted four churches as well as brought together seven more churches that were anxious to affiliate with the Free Methodist Church. As this group prepared to launch the FMC in 2006, they learned of the original group. In 2009 the two groups came together as the Free Methodist Church Ghana Mission.
