PRESENT MINISTRIES
An FM woman from Michigan had a burden for children orphaned by the HIV/AIDS pandemic and wanted to see an FM church established in Eswatini, formerly Swaziland. Responding to her vision and passion, her local church offered to help. A partnership with the FMC in Mozambique initially helped plant a church in Manzini, Swaziland. Now, the church is registered with the Eswatini government. Currently, there are two local churches, one built in the Maloma Mission Area, approximately 200 km from Manzini, and the other, a temporary structure on the outskirts of Manzini. In 2025, the initial partnership with the local church in the U.S. ended. Due to the financial situation of the Mozambique General Conference, the FMC Mission in Eswatini is without the guidance of a missionary/resident pastor. These factors have stalled the process of planting a thriving church in Eswatini.
ORIGINS
Pastor Luis Guambe, a member of the Mozambique General Conference Missions Committee, was sent across the border to neighboring Swaziland to begin Free Methodist work in that country. He made some contacts and started a small group but then returned home due to lack of resources and training.
Meanwhile, God was giving a vision to a Free Methodist woman in Michigan. She visited the country and was immediately captivated by its beauty, its people and its need. Her great burden for orphaned children in the HIV/AIDS pandemic was combined with a concern that a Free Methodist church be established. Responding to her vision and her passion, her home church, New Covenant, Clio, MI, gave an offering to help.
