Life in Syria, my home country, was quite difficult. I quit school after 8th grade and worked for six years repairing heavy machinery. I didn’t enjoy the work and struggled to become proficient at it. Eventually, I quit and began my obligatory military service. I served in my country’s military for 10 years; during that time, there was an ongoing war. My hometown was at the center of the conflict throughout the war, often subjected to attacks and bombings. Despite the intense and continuous fighting, I was never injured, and to the best of my knowledge, I never harmed another.
After my military service, I worked at a salon for five years but disliked it. Then, I served as a truck driver in Syria for several months before moving to Iraq in search of a better life. Still, I struggled to make ends meet due to difficult living conditions.
In 2017, my mind was overwhelmed with many conflicting thoughts. I was searching for God and trying hard to find Him. In my despair, I even turned to Satanic literature but couldn’t find peace. I pleaded with God to show me a sign of His existence and to help me find Him.
Three days later, a young man moved to where I was staying. Later, he told me he asked God to lead him to someone in need. Two days after his arrival, he began sharing his faith and talking about Christ and the New Testament. I listened attentively, and my desire to learn more about God grew. Finally, one day, I approached him and expressed interest in knowing more about his God. Over the next few nights, the young man told me about Christ and salvation. I eagerly listened and learned. Within a few days, I became convinced God existed and, more importantly, that He loved me. I prayed, asking God for forgiveness, and have attended church since that day. I am grateful God sent a faithful believer to help me find the path to salvation. It was a Godappointed meeting!
